Post subject: | Missing Temperature sender location |
Hi Guys, I'm in the process of rebuilding my dads 76 Clubman and have discovered that i have no location on the head of the engine for the temp gauge sender, it doesn't exist in the usual location under the thermostat? Can anbody tell me an alternative location for the sender unit and maybe explain why my motor is missing it? Origionally this motor came out of my 76 Clumbman Panel van. Any information would be appreciated.. it's got me baffled. Thanks guys |

It could be an engine change (or head change) out of another mini but I was always under the impression that clubby's came with a temperature sender in the head ![]() You could always buy a different thermostat housing that has a provision for a temperature sender in it ![]() |

Your car has probably got an 848/948 cylinder head, which didn't have a temperature sender hole. You can relocate the sender unit into the thermostat housing, by using the appropriate housing. See 12A408 Thermostat Housing - with Temperature Sender Unit Hole |

Many (most?) 998 Mini Deluxes never had provision in the head either. |

You can also get a sender adaptor that bolts on at the other end of the head where the heater tap is in a Cooper S. I bought one a few years ago from Karcraft or Mini Car Clinic (can't remember) in Sydney. Pete |
