Just watching them on Prime , man they look like fun . Would look brilliant with a heap of mini bodies on them . Wonder if it would be possible to run FWD in that class and have the same motor through a front diff ? Would certainly make mini racing a lot easier (don't have to find a good shell etc and not left with either a conversion or a power hungry gearbox ) , probably not cheaper but easier if you could just buy the chasssis , engine and body and crazy speeds .

They use 1100cc bike engines don't they? Looks like a lot of fun, and some seem to push them very hard.

At the Clipsal 500 in previous years these have recorded quicker lap times than the V8's.

Gives you an idea of how quick and how good they are to chuck around.

A mini body would be very very cool 8)

I had a look at them when I was down Bathurst 2006 and their not much smaller than a standard mini  8) and yes I'm pretty sure they run 1100cc engines making very high power figures :P

Saw them at the GP this year, They are very quick, very light, smaller than a mini, tubular frame under fibreglass with a 1200cc Yammy in front. I couldn't say if the were all front wheel drive but the one I saw open was.

A mini would have no chance against these I'm afraid.

But it would be fun trying.

Cheers,

Gig

Had a close look at them at the F1GP and spoke to some of the drivers. The series is under strict control of the guy who builds them all ie. no mods without his say so and he does the scrutinerring etc. Apparently your looking at 60K to start or you can hire one for around 10K so its not as cheap as I thought it would be. Historic Nb/Nc in a mini would be cheaper I think.

The drivers said 60K at the F1GP so thats all I can say! We spoke to a female driver who said she pays 10K a season to hire one and the other drivers said she always gets in the way. My son bought home the fibreglass front of one that rolled, just the bit under the grille, mum wasn't too happy but it looks nice in the garage with the race stickers on it.
