Just a general question for those of you have taken your mini's to the strip. What horsepower does your engine have- blown or NA- and what time did you run including your trap speed please? ie. my EB falcon with 202rwkw/ 270rwhp ran a 13.67 at 105mph. Im just after a rough guide for curiosity's sake. Thanks a bunch, Dan |

Kinda related but I think interesting. This guy Brian lives down the street from me, and built a VW-based special. He's definitely a techie, as this page shows. Basically, you videotape your speedo as you accelerate as fast as your car can. You then plot the acceleration on a spreadsheet and calculate the power from that, based on the weight and few other factors. It's a bit fiddley but the right price. Incidentally, Brian's just dropped in a 2.2 litre VW motor, which when it's only shifting 705kg, and has a wheelbase about as long as its width means a lot of fun. Wish he'd let me drive it... |

for a mini wieghing in at 750kg and on street tyres, you will need atleast 130hp @ wheels for a 13.9 1/4 ![]() |

Angus, I've also heard that method used when RECORDING the SOUND of the engine.... Personally I think the video method would work well..... You know the time taken, you know the weight, factoring a few Hp into it for traction, you would get very close... Do a search for Moroso power / weight calculator on Google..... J |

![]() Thats not too bad. I thought it would take more HP than that to run a 13. Maybe I will be able to take my mini to the next ford heathcote day and take out the V8 and the 6 cylinder class if the mini holds up of course. Turbos get put in the next category up. That would be awesome for a mini to win the 6 class. |

13 sec am surprised your car weighs so much, is there no way you can shed some pounds. A few years ago I met a guy that ran a red 850 Licence QIK850 at willowbank and it ran a 12.6 quarter. I chatted to him after the run and he said it was putting out about 180hp at the fly from a turbo A series, in street trim but with slicks on front. Should be interesting to see what low'n blown runs when he is finished, my goal is 650kg in street trim as I have alloy doors, single skin bonnet, and boot , amongst a few other lightened bits. |

Let your tyres down a bit, & don't use 1st gear.. it just digs holes in the road! ![]() |
