I've seen those.

I like the ones you hide under the driveway (best if paved), and the car pops out of the ground!

There is an old hotel here in brisbane that has been modernised and their garage consists of about 10 similar devices that go three deep into the ground(and up obviously so the bottom one can get out) Neet trick . Also a local Mini repairer seems to always have one up on his hiost with another parked under it and I've thought to myself that would be a way to store two cars and work under a car without breaking your back

Good Idea except if the top one leaks oil and other fluids such as Brake fluid as this happend to a Mini at our local Parts supplier.

Not Happy :(

see those all over the place in Japan, but the best thing I ever saw was a building 2 cars wide and 1 car long with one door at the bottom, inside it had car platforms that 'rotated' - up one side and down the other - when you want to put your car in, the operator rotates the next empty spot to the door, put your car in, and it gets rotated, you want you car, the operator rotates it to the door and you drive away

How is this different from a hoist?

This is a 4 post hoist with ramps instead of arms. Removing the wheels is alot harder because the car is still resting on em. This is the type of hoist that exhaust shops would use.

This 4 post hoist is US$3,400 (AU$4,480) ..... plus overseas shipping costs

2 post hoists (Tecalemit) are about AU$3,000.... and no shipping cost required - Australian made

At least you could make a full length fluid drip tray to go between the ramps on the 4-poster 8)

I've seen them for around $1000 at auctions and liquidation sales - which is not that far out of reach in the overall scheme of things

Sound good I will have to look into getting one as it would be easier to service all my vehicles.

I think I have stayed at the hotel in Brisbane of which has been mentioned with these things. To be honest it was gay. There was bugger all heard room so you get out and smack your head on the roof, no room to open the doors as the things are a tight squeeze and if you have a big car next to you good luck. Plus it makes all sorts of noises when you drive onto it and you feel like you are going to fall through. Then there is the fact there is massive supports in the middle which are a pain to drive over. But the worst thing is walking out to the car park and going 'where the f#%k is my car' and then realising it is under another car somewhere. oh not to mention that if you want to go out and your car is up top or down the bottom you need to get someone to come and move the thing for you, so you have to wait for them to get there and then wait for the slow damn things to work...rather annoying. So yes I found that although they save space, using them was rather gay.
