In my opinion, and i have no experience painting cars, it seems like a lot more work. I would prefer to prep the car, spray it a couple of coats, then sand. Imagine rolling the whole car then sanding and reaping that process 5 or 6 times. Ryan |

someone i worked with did it once before the paint came out wierd looking and was really uneven. it was a good laugh though. if i was to do it, i wouldnt do it in a light colour |

i think the guy is talking some sence, i mean its really easy to get a good finish with a roller else where, walls of a house ect, why not cars

I've got this article in a hot rod magazine where they rolled paint on an old ford. They said its a paint job finish that looks great at 2 metres, but any closer and you see the blemishes. Still works if you want to put the hard yards in. Personally i'd buy a cheap compressor and spray it

Realistically if you go with the theory of getting heaps of paint on and then spending countless hours cutting it back, I'm sure you could get a good result with a roller. But the reality is why bother when it is quicker and you get a better, longer lasting result from a spray gun? |

I might try it on a boot lid. Does anyone know if you can get that sort of paint in Oz? If your neighbours are arseholes (like mine on the left) spraying is a problem (noise, fumes). Things started going downhill when I first used the angle-grinder at 1.00 am one night 
Also, I can use a roller. I've had plenty of practice thanks to my wife. She decides to change the decor inside our house. She knows I will always step in, as its easier to do it yourself properly first time than fix up a potential disaster

This is the thread that started the "roll you car" phenomenon, be warned, after 100 pages, they shut the thread and started a new one to continue the discussion, and yes, i did read it all and yes, it took a loooonnnnggg time. The point of a roller job is not to get a show finish, but to paint it in you garage and get it looking good for the total cost the equivalent renting a spraygun for a day (ok, that may be an overstating it, but you get the point)... no expensive equipment, no expensive paint, no overspray, no $200 mask to stop the ISOs killing you etc etc etc http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=2331682&page=0&fpart=8&vc=1 |
