some time ago a some people including me joint forces to make a plug-n-play replacement ECU for the Rover Mini, starting with the MEMS 1.6

today the first success

german only, but easy to follow, i think

still a lot of work to do but the first start of the engine encouraged us a lot

stay tuned

So it's an up graded computer thingy correct?
What are the advantages?

The main advantage is tunability , the standard ones don't let you do much whereas this will allow all manner of mods .

So when you say plug in and play have you managed to get the megasquirt ecm to plug to rover efi harness. Have you made a adaptor loom :?: or are you using the megasquirt loom and hard wiring it to the rover sensor on the engine

From what I gather ( hey, it's in german :P ) It looks like they've made an adapter board for the MS which plugs into the Rover loom...

we made a completly new pcb with matching plug so all you have to do is open the factory ECU, removing the pcb, fitting our pcb, closing the box, reconnect it and drive away.
maybe finding a second ECU housing to fit the pcb and keeping the factory ECU as backup would be the better way
to keep is simple we also removed some "features" MS originally has, but not needed with the Rover. you won't find any flashing led telling you each injection (would be hard to see inside an alu case inside the engine bay anyway).
on board is the idle controll, just like the factory one. its unipolar so you don't have to mess with the stepper to make it a bipolar one.

but there are still some jobs to do. the water temp instrument is not supported right now, the lambda sensor heater doesn't work, and such minor things. but we keep on working and testing.
what you see there is the one and only pcb right now. some more are made in the next days for testing on location. you have to know we are living in differend locations in Germany and all that has been done until now was via telephone and i-net.
if all problems are solved there will be a pre-production run of the pcbs (maybe we could sell one or two to Australia, if someone is interested in testing).
and if that works out successfull it may go into full production.

it is Ralf in the video, he made the pcb and most of the hardware

yes, christmas  maybe a bit earlier, have to make sure that it works under a lot of conditions.
if you come to Braunschweiger Mini Tage you may see it in real life

the MPi version is the next project, but being much more complex, i'm not sure we will have it ready for the 50th
