Hi guys, My car was converted from hydro to rubber years ago and I would like to change it back one day. The only displacers/bags I can find are regular Mini bags and I was wondering if they, plus front shockies, would provide a similar ride and handling to Cooper S bags. Failing that, has anybody any idea where I might finds some S ones. Kind regards Al |

My car (1970 matic) has S/ClubmanGT front bags and its original rears, with front shocks. Chong's car is a Mini-K with original bags, and front shocks. I've driven both, they feel much the same. Much better than a stock S with NO shocks. |

Thanks for that Dr Mini. Do Mini K and Clubman GT bags come available or is it something I'm really going to have to hunt for? I take it Mini K bags differ from basic 850 bags?? Regards Al |

All bags are NLA now. S ones are sought after but they are rarer. Mini-K had the same bags as a 998 Deluxe here I think. Our 850s in Oz were all rubber cone, never hydro. After 40 years I reckon any bag that works is a good one... just bung some shocks (std, not hard) on the front. I run comp hydro rear bumpstops too, they help turn-in and also let you carry more fat chicks (or whatever) in the back.

That all sound quite simple, providing our UK sourced 850 bags are the same as Mini K bags. Did they have a colour code and part number? I can compare them to make sure. I wonder if Clubman GT bags are any different and if I should be looking for a set of them. Thanks for the advice. Regards Al |

As far as I know S and GT bags are the same. Many years ago I replaced the bags on an S and the S bag part number was superseded by the Clubman GT part number. Seemed to be the same from the outside in the important part. ie The distance of the rubber from the top of the steel housing. Damping felt the same. RonR |

Here in Oz Cooper S and Clubman GT bags were the same, I can't say the same for the UK Clubman 1275GT. Our Oz GT was really an S in Clubby clothing, performance included. |

Hi guys, I wonder if someone could weigh an S or Clubman GT bag so that we can find out if they are heavier? It would be interesting and maybe a way of determining waht bag it is if the paint code can't be seen. Regards Al |

The difference to look for is the distance from the top of the displacer flange down to the rubber. Cooper S/ Clubby GT ones are much closer (10mm I think) to the top. |
