Hmm,

Looks like a hard way to do it, using the crank at one end to drive through the primary gear and idler gear.

Although it allows normal clutch operation so maybe it is the easy way out? Hmmm, got me thinking now!

Interesting anyways

It's an electric engine conversion without the actual electric motor, batteries go elsewhere in the car and are the power supply, it would be charged via a 240 volt plug while parked at home or anywhere their is a 240V power supply
Wouldn't it be a better system to make an adaptor to connect the electric motor drive shaft to the flywheel. That way you don't have the belt, pulleys or crank draining valuable BHP :? . Or that might be his mkII system he mentioned.

I could think of way better things to attach to the top of that gearbox.

There is an electric mini that is registered around here. full of battery's in the rear, does 90KPH so im told and he drives it daily. Looks good, He plugs an extension cord where the old tank neck was to charge it. Very neat.. Oh and no gearbox

OK Why can;t they fit an altenator(s) connected to the drive shafts that generate enough power to keep the batteries charged. Very Simple and would make electric cars viaable

Because they draw too much power to make them work.
For example: A solar panel Powers a light and the light powers the solar panel, their is too much resistance or power lost in the circuit too keep it running. No alternator can produce enough power to keep the motor running to power the alternator let alone a motor to power the car.
It's a good theory but simply won't work with today's technology.

Nothing is that efficient
