Hi, got told by two people my mini needs it carburetor tuned? I have twin carbs but don't know anything else about it.

Is this something that is easy to do, and should it be done.

It's easy to do if you know what you're doing , but a lot of people don't know twin's and stuff up the mixtures . Who told you it needs tuning , are they a reputable mechanic or just someone seeing twins and saying they need to be tuned ? Basically it means getting the mixtures right and both carbs synchronised so they work together rather than one beiing more open than the other .

It also involves checking the needle valves, throttle shafts and linkages, for wear, and replace as needed. If shafts are not worn a Fuel Miser repair kit is cheap, it's made in Oz too. 8)

Thanks guys, I'm not mechanical so wouldn't do it myself. I was just curious as to whether it was something that did get done or whether it was worth asking mechanic. One guy took it for drive, he just said (without knowing it was twin carbs) needed tuning and yesterday another guy who was looking to buy said same thing. Not a big believer in coincedence, and being a 998cc i always thought the car could go a little faster than what it does. Maybe this will solve the problem. thanks for replies
