Post subject:  mini Cooper S

I might be a able to get my hands on a cooper S for less than 500 bucks in the next month or so! Yes genuine! Dont ask from where cause thats my secret! Im thinking that this project is going to end up a convertible, with the engine rebuilt and a custom interior!

Any other suggestions from anyone?

It will be something different! How many minis are "Original"anyway. If it was in immaculate condition I would keep it original, but obviously for 500 buck it needs some work, roof included, which may be easier to simply turn it into a convertible. Dads an engineer so that part is covered!

It will be worth more if left as a full bodies Cooper S get a Deluxe/Mini K or something to do the chop on not the S. They are hard enough to find with out chopping it.

Don't Chop it just put a new roof on it..As some one mentioned above it's hard enought to find a Cooper S now a days :!:

if its gonna get chopped, i'd sell it for good money (even rough ones fetch good money). that would possibly leave enough to buy another mini and have cash left over to finish the project with... but its yours so i guess you are allowed to please yourself what you do with it.
I almost had a deal like this one. Was talking to this old bloke about my mini once and he gave me directions to the whereabouts of a genuine S owned by an old lady wanting to sell it (poor condition apparently but driveable) for $800. his directions weren't right though and i could never find it  and i couldn't check with him coz had no idea who he was

Its not a done deal yet, but I dont see what the big deal is. Theres hardly any difference between say a mini K and a cooper S, they all came off the same production line, except the cooper had a few extra holes and stuff. If I get it I will post some pics, but I like the idea of a convertible S, I dont think I have seen one before!

Well then, get an 850 or a K, and put cooper badges and tanks on it. Don't chop the top, unless it's damaged or rusted beyond repair.

I say go for it!

Mooman, is this the one we looked out down at that old man's place?
If so, this is an excellent car and would be AWESOME to do a convertible on it coz the shell is so good to start off with and a bargain price.

Were all those parts included in the price?
