Check that whoever put the clutch slave cylinder on didn't change the bend on the throttle cable or have put extra tension on it so it's sitting higher on the holder . Hard to describe but make sure the cable is returning all the way . If the cable has a tight bend on it around the slave cylinder or clutch hose it mightn't go all the way back easily . |

Yeah just a thought, check that throttle cable is seated into its socket on the firewall. I wouldnt go touching the idle screw just yet, if it was ok b4 the slave cylinder was changed then its not the idle screw. |

a bit more info, its a 42 (i think) webber, also, when im cruising along it sputters and spurts, like its running out of fuel. Also, when i put my foot down, the sound goes down to a real lower note, and it sputters and spurts again, and only when i back off on the accelerator it picks up again. |

sounds like you need to take it to a weber friendly mini specialist for a look-see |

Yep , still check that the cable isn't hooked somewhere and it's sitting properly in the holder on the carb and firewall . Also see that the tail of the cable isn't hitting the manifold or anything (in case they bent it out of their way and it's now touching somewhere) . |

similar to what sports 850 said ...... if it was ok before and has been doing it straight after you picked it up it could be as simple as the cable has been put under the clutch slave spring instead of over it or visa versa and some how shortening the cable but in saying that the carb may need to be looked at as it could be running lean (does it occasionally backfire through the carb?), maybe accel pump not performing as it should, leak at the manifold, etc, etc or drowning it (running very rich, heaps of black smoke out the exhaust, unburnt fuel). (as TheMiniMan said....)Best i stop guessing and you take it to your prefered repairer for them to have a look see. |

does anyone know any reputable carb specialists around the western suburbs, or even around sydney? yeh ballistic, occasionaly thers a huge bang and a big puff of black smoke comes out the exhaust, but thats only very rarely. dont know how to tell if its through the carb or not. will check the cable tomorrow afternoon after work. |

if its the carb it will be a real crisp crack or pop noise from infront of you (running lean)....does it blow black smoke out of the exhaust all the time even at idle (shold be able to see it even faintly at idle). This is harder to describe in text word compared to talkin/describing it in person than i thought...... Anyways reccommend getting it to a reputable mini[/ repairer of personal choice for them to have a look see. |
