Post subject:  Twin 1 1/4 su's Mix up

I am rebuilding a set of Mk1 and Mk2 cooper s carbies and have mixed them up. Can anyone tell me which carbies go where.
I have carbies stamped with (AUC1341) (AUC1342) (AUC870) and (AUC871).
The Air horns are marked (BS1)(PD2770 BS1)(PD2770BS2)and(PD2770A BS2) .
The inlet manifolds are (AEG347 12A661P) and (AEG573 P).

Thanks for looking

I have a list on my computer at home of what carbies originally came off what cars. If you can wait until 6 o'clock tonight I'll be happy to look for you (unless someone has an answer sooner).

Actually do any of those numbers have a 'L' or an 'R' on the ends of the numbers? I am assuming that the carb numbers are the ones off of the body? Do you have the numbers that are on the little tags attached to the float bowls?

Sorry mate but I just had a look. The best my list gives me is "Austin/Morris Cooper S 1275" of AUD146L&R - it doesn't break them down into Mk1 or Mk2 (I have separate ones for Mk 3 though :? )

I thought it had carb body numbers but it doesn't sorry. Hopefully someone else can clear it up for you.

As for the other stuff I have no eye dear!

The 146L & 146R tags will go together on a matched set (one goes on the Left side carb - one tag goes on the right side carb).

Left and Right side carbies - are they named looking at it from the front of the car or from inside the car

the higher numbers go together, and are for the higher numbered car...

my MK2 carbs are certainly the 1341's, and if one of the manifolds has the square flanges, it's the MK2 one

I am not sure where i read it ( i think it was on here ) but i wrote it in a book at the time for later reference and it said that AUC1341 @AUC 1342 was MK1 ,
AUC870 @ AUC871 was MK11.

If this is incorrect i'm sure someone will straighten it out.
Colin.

I have my Mk2 pair here, they are marked as follows.
Mind you, they came off an early mk2, but they are definitely fitted to the later mk2 manifold.

AUC870 & AUC871 Bodies
2 x PD2770A BS1 Horns

BMC didn't make the Mk2. You can blame Leyland for that.

Thanks for the input.
I suppose it doesnt realy matter as long as the manifolds are correct.

No, you're right. they seem to be identical otherwise....
