I finally got my old 1293cc engine started today, 13 years after crashing my Deluxe in 1995. Since then I have had the head welded up (it's a big valve AEG163) and unleadedized and that's about it.

Oil pressure was straight up to 80 psi. Compression is about 220 psi in 1, 2 and 2 but down at about 180 in 4.

I've put the engine into a yellow and black Austin 850.

It's amazing how much grease and other crap burnt off the extractors when it first got warm.

:P

Just need to fit out the interior now :?

Thanks Henry

It all needs a good clean up still. They're the original leads etc. I'll look for a black set soon.

I'll also try and get hold of a much longer manifold for the Webber. That one is only 3 inches long. Seeing that I went to the trouble of putting in the Webber box, I might as well fill it out a little.

The problem is that if you can't get an exact match for the paint colour it never looks right.

It's like people who get put green number plates on their car because they want to match their green car. Usually looks fairly horrible.

I guess the best option would be to buy the leads and then paint the car to match. :)

I dont know, as everything would be rubber you dont expect a perfect match, i think i would carry the outside theme in the engine bay, and that would be quite nice, but again, my taste are unusual...look at my car

Yeh, nice to have it going again after all this time! :) Except I wasn't there to hear it fire up for the first time!
Now we just need to sort out all those little bits and pieces so we can get it on the road.
