Well, this might be something different. I was asked to be part of a new (I think) concept called a living library. Well, I am there to talk about minis. I'm no expert but I'll give it a go. The idea is that people make a reservation on a living book and find out all about it in a 15 minute session. There will be various people there with their particular interest or hobby. A letter was put out to the public in the area notifying them of the subjects. The people then turn up to the library and find out about the subject they want to know more about. I don't know how many people have booked me yet, if any, but it will be interesting to see how it goes. They have reserved a spot for me in the carpark so that people can see an actual mini either before or after talking to me. I guess they will probably be older people but I don't know. I have packed up a few items including some of my mini minis, also my collection of bathurst winner models and magazines, other old mini magazines, TME collection, a mini race wheel with a hoosier tyre on it and an old steering wheel to make it a bit more interesting. I will be trying to promote the VMCI and in particular the Minishow 2008. I will wear my club gear. Its on between 6.30 and 8.30 at the South Yarra Library in Toorak Rd. I guess if anyone wants to see it you could turn up but I may be stuck talking to a 'borrower'. You may think I'm mad but I dont mind promoting the mini and the good people associated with them any chance I get. I will report back to let you know how it went.
