Howdy,I just opened up a set of rings and found this little dova whacky thingy majigy in the packer. My ring packet contains 3 compression rings and two rails with a oil control spacer expander spring which keeps the two rails apart and this little dova whacky thingy majigy. Can I assume its for packaging purposes, or does it have a purpose...... It dosesnt fit on to the pistons any where, its to wide for any of the ring gaps and doesnt cover the entir piston, only 3/4 when you place it around the piston.

Looks like some kind of oil ring spacer, but you say you already have two rails and the spacer?

And these don't fit in the oil ring groove? too wide?

I'd ask the supplier? :?

Yer,already have the oil rings and spacers that fit the pistons, maybe these were thrown in the packaging back in the old days by accident. They were wrapped in the tissue paper with the other rings. The approximate diameter of the oil rings in question are 60mm whilst my pistons are 76.96mm. Thats a massive difference.

madmatt saves the day yet again, spot on.... Its an oil ring expander for a 4 piece oil ring kit. It must be the wrong one for my ring kit so will be taking it back.

If anyone uses a 4 oil ring piston, the addy below shows how its set up.
Thanks all for helping out!
