I know there is a bore diameter difference with the plastic tanked master cyls. Not sure bout the tin tank ones though?

Brake has a 'control' valve to hold the pressure a bit longer - leave it out you have a clutch cylinder put it in for a Brake Cylinder. Hanra is right about bore sizes as well can't remember off the top of my head can someone else fill in?

Most common is 0.7" for brake and 0.75" for clutch

Apart from bore size as said and the restrictor valve in the brake MC, the tin tank ones are `handed', ie the base flanges are in different positions.
When put together on the car, the spacing between the tanks is greater than the spacing between the MC bodies.
