Brake has a 'control' valve to hold the pressure a bit longer - leave it out you have a clutch cylinder put it in for a Brake Cylinder. Hanra is right about bore sizes as well can't remember off the top of my head can someone else fill in? |

Most common is 0.7" for brake and 0.75" for clutch |

Apart from bore size as said and the restrictor valve in the brake MC, the tin tank ones are `handed', ie the base flanges are in different positions. When put together on the car, the spacing between the tanks is greater than the spacing between the MC bodies. |
