What’s the difference between a 1978 1275GT and a 1978 1275LS? What’s better? I’ve been searching for information on the net about the LS and there is minimal documentation on them? Cheers |

Easy. A '78 GT is a british car, a '78 LS is an aussie car. |

The British 1275 GT's were different to the Clubman GT's we had here in Australia too. |

There is little difference between the 1275GT (UK) and the 1275LS engines, but the UK car got the same close ratio gears that the Oz Cooper S and Clubman GT did. Our LS got the good old standard Oz Clubby ratios. |

post '68 UK shells are different to aussie shells - various differences, most noticeably external door hinges there would be lucky to be 1 or 2 UK 1275 GT's in Australia |

and no front quarter windows nor rear opening quarter windows which by the way are larger than the aus ones. Also non removable bonnet lock platform. |

Just check that it is what it's claimed to be . Australian Clubman GT's were only up to the end of 1972 (I think , anyone know the date they stopped ?) and a UK 1275GT will be the Mk4 body shell with all the differences people have mentioned (internal door hinges , larer rear and side windows , non removable bonnet support panel etc) . If it's an Aussie clubbie shell and is supposed to be a 1978 1275GT or clubman GT then there's something wrong . |

The entire door & door appeture is totally different, much taller door (as is all the side windows) & the rear windscreen is much wider, In fact nearly every single panel is different. |
