Lynda's car "Beefa" has two explodes in the back parcel shelf, 6x9's. I fitted a blaupunkt Miami Beach head unit in it as it has 200 watts output power which is good enough til the amp goes in. Plan is the amp will go under the left passenger seat as it is less hassle to have monster long RCA leads made up. The boot holds a 10 inch sub no sweat. The front speakers will probly be fitted in front of the heater box facing the doors in a wooden box assembly, i have seen this in another car and the tweeters can be fitted at the top of the doors on the dash. Once I put an 85 amp alternator in it i will be able to run the amp, its a Blaupunkt Velocity 1200 watt amp with a built in cooling fan, very nice unit. I can get all these things at cost price if people want it, and also Clarion. Hope this gives you some sort of an idea, as this is the plan.
Anyone else got any ideas by all means let us know, i am open to anything.
cheers,
Damo

oh and a nice exhaust system that has a good note is a 1 and 3/4 system with a lukey muffler. I was quoted 100 bucks for this system and it has a nice note to it. depends what you want it for, noise or more power, we just have noise...lol

Just do what I did and put on another switch in to swith the ignition wire on and off.

Or get a test lamp and find the wire that glows the lamp when the key is switched on to ACC if clubamn Ignation switch on sterring colum or under the middle dash if a roundie with out colum ignition.

my mini had a 12 inch alpine bass vr in the boot, a jaycar response amp mounted in the boot, 6 inch speakers in the rear parcel shelf and 3.5 inch speakers on the dash boxed.

i would avoid putting speakers in the front doors on a mini, they rattle enough as it is.. and also the door just doesnt seal at all.. Also the metal doors are a horrible thing to resonate sound off..

It's good to have the front speakers as high as possible and preferably pointing at your head, and at the back use the parcel shelf as the sound bounces off the rear window.
My mate has fitted 6x9's under the rear seat, and its a good fit, but not a great location sound wise..

you don't need lots of speakers, just make the ones you have good ones. DLS basic's or the like.

as far as an exhaust, i have used and have been very happy with a 1 3/4 inch pipe with a lukey straighthrough race muffler. It was good value and sounded excellent, that is if you like it LOUD!! :)
I think bumping it up to a 2 inch pipe would make your exhaust note sound better, but
they've had 40 years to fiddle, and the best performance was 1 3/4 inch

That momo tip would be too large unless your mini has a 2 1/4" tailpipe. I run a mid bore LCB into a 1 3/4" single box freeflow system. You can see straight through the muffler... i think its a lukey box but whatever its very good for flow. It isnt too noisey however which i found surprising, 96 dB @ 5000rpm @ 2m. On the other hand the induction noise from the Weber is up at 106 dB @ 5000rpm at 2m !!!! .
