are the rover mini's a centre point injection or did they ever come out with a multi point injection set up.

if anyone has a photo of there manifold setup they could send me that would be great. as im interested to know how they are done

yeah there is single point injection (spi, 91 - 99) and multipoint injection (mpi, 99 - 02.) Same head though (mini 5 port) so MPI minis still had only 2 injectors. Both produced the same horsepower but the MPI had a little more torque

I would call the Rover Mini's MPI setup a `TPI' system, it's not `MPI' in the accepted sense of 1 injector per cylinder. Just not enough intake ports...

Has anybody yet got serious power from an MPI?
A 5 port 1330 with 45 Weber has now made over 160HP at the crank on GR's engine dyno, a hard number to beat. OK, so it's not a road car...

Almost. SPI is from 1992 to 1996, and MPI is from 1996 to 2000 :)

For the MPI's manifold look here:

And here:

The SPI's manifold is this one:

This pic is the best from Ashpalt's links

My only comment is that 2 injectors is not enough for an engine that is going to rev.

What is the rpm limit of your engine?

1430ccm and 110HP, with homemade inlet manifold, a road car

the biggest problem is injection timing. with the factory 63HP engine you have 5 miliseconds at 6000 RPM to inject all the fuel the engine needs per cycle. thats why the MPi injectors are very big, very fast and difficult to controll.
the Rover engineers were aware of the problems with higher revs, so they made it more torquey

4 inlet ports would help a lot

How about a seven port with Omex :?:

Just put a BMW twin cam motorbike cyl head on it & then all the injection stuff is easy-peasy :-)

Bad idea - will cost you lots of money and pain - take my advice and buy a house.

If you must turbo it then keep the engine carby'd so it's easy to find people who can tune it for you.

If you want to go port EFI on an naturally aspirated engine then invest in Motec/Autronic or similar (so when you give up you can sell it for not much loss) and use 4 injectors. The twin point set-up only works well at low rpm and low load (relatively speaking) and is not for high rpm/power.

Have a look at Mokesta's manifold if you want a good starting point.

Daniel

I know in the UK some people have supercharged an MPI mini engine, but at the end of the day, if big power is what you want, factory parts won't cut it.
