Hi,

Has anybody tried to re-colour cloth mini seats.

I have a set of maroon front and rear seats from a late model LS which are in pretty good condition and would like to change them to black to match the rest of my interior.

I guess that I could just make some covers or something (I have some for the front seats and might use them anyway until I get some sports seats) but would really prefer to dye them.

I have found a site - http://www.simplyspray.com.au/category3_1.htm which seems to have potential. Has anybody tried to use this or anything similar with any success?

Cheers,
Simon

you might like to ask around and see if anyone wants a set of those seats, as they're a rare thing....

however, would it work to take the covers off and use normal clothes dye in the laundry sink?

I honestly hadn't even thought of trying to take the covers off :? I might have a look them when I get home.

I quite like the fabric seats, not as slippery as the vinyl ones. They are in good condition and pretty comfy (not that I get into the backseat of a mini too often these days). :(

It does seem a pity to modify original seats (I don't know which of the LSs came with the maroon seats), so maybe I should look at making removable covers.

Thanks,
Simon

I used spray on "fabric and carpet die" on my seats, i found that it has made the seats very very britle, and the cloth tears quite quickly.

it may sound stupid but vinyl spray (only ever use the uht one) works brilliantly.
if yu read the label it says vinyl AND material , i have used it on about a dozen cars and never ad an issue.

I have a set of LS seats which have been sprayed red and black to match a 1275LS with vinyl spray.
A bit rough but it does work. The seats are free if any one wants them.
The back seat is not too bad, no cracks, but the front ones probably need to be recovered?

Yeah dont spray the seats, because somebody will want them.

I think they are 1275LS seats (hi-ho silver version?)
