Post subject:  Which Extractors?
I'm building a 1360 Mini for my young son: It has the OE type rubber universals on the driveshafts. With these which extractors will fit - Minisport (Tony Cullen) says use Maniflow Freeflow coz LCB will not fit with rubber unis; Karcraft say the Maniflow LCB will fit ok. Who is right?

I know the Freeflow is good on 998s and quieter but doesn't allow a 1360 to rev out as far at the top end.

LCB's will fit... it may take some fiddling though. When I first put my LCB's on, took it up the road - clack, clack, clack, clack, clack :shock: You'll have to persuade them to sit in the right position with the lower bracket. I didn't have much clearance, but never had a problem again 8)

A decent LCB will not catch if you put a small flat on the pipe where it passes the coupling - Janspeed used to supply an LCB with this flat on it.

I think the rubber universals might be marginal at handling the power of a 1360. I had them in my Terrapin which only weighs 410kg with worked 1150, it and they chopped out in no time. Anyone had success with rubber in a big block?

The GR supapipes are great on the smaller bore motors but I think he said they may not be best suited on the larger bores.

I ran rubber couplings on my 1330 with a 266 cam and Cooper three branch extractors for five years on the road and never had a problem with the couplings. Rod Stevens used them in preference to anything else on his lap record setting Sports Sedan at Winton years ago in the belief that they made life easier for the diff/gearbox with big 13 inch sticky race tyres.

The plastic type replacement couplings that were popular once are no longer available .
How easy is it to convert to Cooper S Hardy Spicer all steel unis?

Absolutely not they don't last long at all. Those nylon ones with the needle rollers I found good though, but I don't think you can get them any more.

I run Maniflow LCB's on my car with rubber uni's - as has been said, work fine with no problems if you can get them to sit in just the right place.

True, but don't throw them away if you have some worn ones, you can get new Triumph TR6 U/Js (same cross, and steel cups) and refit your old plastic cups onto them. :wink:

just put pot joints on and be happy. I did. happily fit the Maniflow LCBs and handles 113 ftlb all day.
