Hay is an annual event held in south australia where people from all around gather, to participate in events such as, show and shine, motorkhanas. it gives the chance for everyone to meet up and catch up with one another.

its on this weekend im pretty sure, the nsw convoy is leaving friday.

so basically, its a chance for all mini nuts to get together, show off their cars, reminisce (sp?), have some fun, compete, and enjoy minis with the cruise through the town.

The Mini Nationals has been on the June long weekend for the last 40 years.

Hay is in NSW roughly half way between Sydney and Adelaide.

Mini Clubs from all over Australia attend - most coming from NSW, VIC & SA.

Timetable of events for the weekend.

Saturday, 7th June 2008

10.40am - Parade form up at the council swimming pool (Nth Lachlan St)
11.00am - Parade south along Lachlan St
11.10am - Show & Shine. Moppett St. Best Presented entries. Souvenir sales.
1.00pm - Documentation opens
1.30pm - Scrutineering (Moppett St)
3.00pm - Documentation and scrutineering ends
8.00pm - Reunion Evening. Hay Half Time at the Hay Golf Club (the courtesy bus will be running - make use of it ). Get a bite to eat in town before making your way to the Golf club.

Sunday, 8th June 2008

8.30am* - Re-scrutineering. At the khana grounds – ‘Willunga’ (12kms from Hay on the Mid Western Hwy)
9.15am* - Re-scrutineering ends

10.am* - Motorkhana starts. Lunch break for officials after first run completed. Food and drinks will be available at the venue courtesy of the Scouts
3.30pm* - Hay Heroes starts
4.40pm* - Hay Heroes finishes
8.00pm* - Presentation party. Hay Memorial Hall (Lachlan St). Disco and BYO drinks.
**FREE ENTRY**
9.00pm* - Presentation of trophies.

*NOTE!! * - These times may be varied at the close of entries.

Be warned that the Police in Hay are pretty strict when it comes to the Mini drivers. They breath tested the drivers heading up to the start of the street parade last year and at many other times during the weekend. Remember this if you plan to have a BIG Friday night (which is compulsory in Hay) and then drive in the morning. They also do many random checks on the Mini number plates making sure cars are registered (street parade / show & shine)

Looking forward to catching up with some Ausmini guys and girls

The usual NSW/local Police public relations exercise :?

which reminds me they booked quite a few competitors returning to town from the original Deniliquin road khana site (only a few kays away) for not wearing seat belts, quite some years ago.............

June long-weekend is obviously fixed in their marketing calendar and business plan.
