My SUs have a mk2 manifold, mk2 bodies and mk1 tags....

They're from an early mk2 (mk1.5 to some) so may be yet another case of parts bin craziness..

Not sure , you could possibly get them made up as they are just a triangle of aluminium with tiny numbers and letters stamped on them (a jeweller or engraver should be able to engrave them like the original stamping) but the easiest way first up would be to put a wanted up for the tags . The one from the left hand carb might be common to some other mini at the same time , not sure about the right hand one though . Someone might have one on a carb that's not going on a car for an accurate resto and doesn't really care if it is right or not .

I sold a set of carbs a while back, and the number of emails I got asking for the tags on their own without the carbs was kinda annoying...

Burlen - as mentioned in the 3rd post - offer them although the modern font is different to the original.

Resurrecting an old post here.

Just looking at some replacement 1 1/4 " SU Carbs for my 7/70 Mk2 : is it correct that as noted above that the Mk2 should have the AUD 440 L & 440 R tags whilst the Carb bodies have on them AUC 870 & AUC 871?...or is there varying situations to this from early to later numbered cars?

Thanks

They are the correct numbers for your car. Do you have the AEG573 manifold and thin Smiths PCV valve?

Also - here is a photo of the aftermarket tags that can be purchased from Burlen. I bought a set when doing up a set of MK1 carbs and they look nothing like the originals.

Some time ago I mentioned the different font to Adam Bressington (SU Midel - http://www.sumidel.com/index.html) and I think he said he had the original style stamps so could re-stamp blank tags for an authentic look.

Has anyone here purchased tags recently in the correct font?

You may find them on fleaBay, but, you realise that the Carbs will no longer be original and any prospective new owner should be informed of this change :!:
