to all those moke owners out there, what's a 1275 galvanised body moke worth? I'm getting one on tuesday, I've swapped a 45DCOE weber and manifold for it... it's spent it's life as a line marking mule, the body and paint is pretty good, and it's basically complete except for a few bits and pieces. Apparently the 1275 runs, and the guy who has it has swapped the disks on to his other moke, so it's only got drums on it. I'm tossing up whether to sell it, register it as is, or put my honda gear into it. I have heard of people paying lots and lots for gal body mokes, but I've no idea. I never really planned on being a moke owner, and the missus will slaughter me when she finds out - I've tee'd up with the neighbours to put it in their backyard till I work out what I'm gonna do ![]() |

![]() it's a real one.... I haven't checked the speedo, but probably only done 30,000k's, and would be all in first and second gear when it was line marking ![]() |

Excellent pickup SK! Galvanised Mokes are expensive, especially if it's a Californian. Stick it on eBay and be amazed, then use the profits for your Mini conversion. That'll keep the misus happy. (See honey, I'm making money to support my hobby!) ![]() Not all Mokes with 1275 engines had disks from the factory (1972 Export). Hence a Moke is LEGAL with a 1275 and drums. It weighs 100kg less than a Mini, so it does not really need disks. But the gal ones with 1275 all had disks AFAIK. |

pushed it home this arvo.... it only lived a couple of blocks (downhill) away I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a 1275 or not, the compliance plate has 998 next to the GVM, now GVM means Gross Vehicle Mass, mokes are only meant to be 630kg or so, and my mate has a gal californian that was a 998 and his has 998 on the compliance plate, so maybe it was originally a 998, it's also got a police assigned engine number. However it did have disks on it, the guy who had it put them on his other moke.... wierd.... anyway, build date is August 81, so it's pretty darn late ccording to that. The radiator is enormous, my mate with the gal moke has claimed it tho ![]() It has a bit of surface rust in places - some quite bad underneath, I had a poke at it and it isn't deep, will hit it with the wire brush soon-ish and see what it's like. Does anyone know how to definitively tell if it's a galvanised body? other than that bit of surface rust underneath there is no rust anywhere on it it's missing a few bits and pieces, and someone has provided it with some crap paint over what appears to be the original white - check the overspray on the front indicators! and the insane negative camber on the right rear wheel - I bought some radius arms off ebay to replace this one ![]() here are a few pics - apologies to the 56k'ers ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

nup, can't keep it, I can't afford the rego on more than one daily driver for myself, and I'm keeping the van. Plus the missus has final say... I've driven my mates moke and it didn't have much of an impact I'm afraid ![]() a mate of mine at work is really keen, and mechanically inept, we might get it on the road for him, that way I work on it, he pays the bills and I can pinch it when I want to fool around in the open air ![]() I just want to work out what the little bastard is worth! I need cash for my honda conversion |
