Post subject:  engine and su identification

Only had my mini a week and wondered how to find out what engine is in it as it had a new one fitted in 1991 as i have just found out I have the new engine number, Also how do i identify the carb interms of it's size ?

99 prefix is a 998
1015 is a 1100
1275 very depending on the if is a morry block cooper s block clubby gt ls 1275 and auto morry block so give us a engine number to start with

nfi it is a 998 hard to say the size of the carb could be a 1 1/4 or 1 1/2

All 99H motors (998cc) in Oz came with 1.5" carb, type HS4.
Note- this doesn't mean it's still a 998- our Barney has a `99H', seems Mini Kingdom reco'd it and put a 1098 crank & pistons in while they were at it! :P

Yeah....those 1275s can be a pig to identify....I'll help if you have one....might take me a few years to identify it though, extended road test, that sort of thing.... :lol:

unless there's some kinda of "Mini Wisperer" around adelaide that can tell from a drive.. :)

You can put something down one of the spark plug holes to measure the stroke length, and therefore determine the crank type.
