G'day all. I was looking at some new tyres for my project road car. Are the Yokohama AO32R's OK for road use? I have seen the tyre guide that some kind soul posted and it rates them as 'phenomenal'. Any ideas? thanks, bamnfi

Speak to Gordon Levin tyres in sydney, I just got a set from there last week. They are more suited for track then street use.

Do you know if they are street legal? Soon I will have to put the Cooper over the pits for a Rwc and then get rego.

They are street legal, last around 10,000kms a set (driven medium to hard, but srtreet use, not on a circuit.)

My favourite tyres!



They really do perform extremely well, and are pretty good in the wet too!

The fact they look damn sexy is just a bonus!

I paid $200 a corner, fitted, balanced (meticulously, with balance weights on the inside, and tyres matched to the rims to reduce amount of balance weight needed) & with a 4 wheel wheel alignment included!

What you will probably pay is $195 to $215 a corner, with fitting and balancing.

It's good to have a good local tyre place, once you're a regular, you do good by them, they do good by you!

bamnfi - I'd suggest these people would be your first port of call, the yokohama website lists them as the motorsport dealer in Vic. most of your regular Bob Janes etc. won't be able to get the performance tyres

Yeh, those rear grease nipple covers on the deluxe kinda were too rusty to reinstall, and the 'screws' holding them on were rusted solid.




I mean, I was aiming for that stripped down racing look......

Um, maybe not the best mod, but hey, those covers are pov at the best of times
I'm about 3 months away, fingers crossed, to geting mine on the road. Can't wait!

I run those tyres on my daily. They are the best tyres I've ever had on it (out of Bridgestones, Flakens and A008's) in the wet and dry. I currently have them on my daily. Legality wise - I'm not so sure though.......

I agree with Matt though - if you are after something long wearing look elsewhere - these are SUPER fun while they last and they stick like crap to a blanket.

They are a road legal tyre, however don't expect them to last like an A008 does, the tread depth is somewhat less.

Too rich for my blood, I keep buying A008s....

A008's at the moment are retailing for $110 to $115 dollars according to the head office. but then again it depends on different retailers.

I reckon A008s are nothing like the AO32R. One is primarlily a road tyre, the other Mostly Motorsport. Boy you can tell the difference on the road too!

But the cost with the faster wearing tyre is much higher, to me it is worth it, for the road! To many others it isn't!
