Found out why my speedo doesn't work....it snapped it two. Its a 65 roundnose, has anyone changed one before, how hard is it? Cheers. |

Not so bad, in the way of technical difficulty. The issue is getting your hand down the back of the motor and undoing they knurled nut where it bolts onto the engine, and then getting the new one back on. It's a difficult spot to get to with your hand... |

i had to replace mine not that long ago, but i found that it was too tight to get off with my fingers so i took the wheel off and used a long screw driver and tapped it loose bit bodgy but it worked |

This is what i have done, (Be very careful working uder cars!!) I used a small set of long nose vice grips to loosen the 'nut' 'collar' thing, and to retighten! Access from the top is almost impossible! Good luck M |

I recall someone making a tool from a bit of black poly pipe the right size to fit over the nut on the box. You disconnect the top of the cable and slide the poly pipe over the cable and push it onto the nut and then twist the poly pipe to undo the nut. I have never done it and I don't know if you really can get poly pipe the right size to fit the nut. ![]() |

If all else fails, just pull the radiator and bottom hose out, you can then get in there easy with a pair of multigrips. ![]() |

That is one of the most annoying things I have ever had to do, and I had to do it twice in a fortnight!! |

I did it from the top, was a tight fit, but i got my skinny hands down there and got it done, only took about 10mins all up, and i didnt need to jack the car up or use any tools. Ryan |
