Sounds like the head gasket has blown. It allows combustion gasses to get into the water jacket and force water out the cap That's providing you know you have a good cap..

Time to lift the head...

could it be the cap? isnt there two types of caps a longer one and a shoprter one?

Sure, it most definitely could be the cap, and it is an easy and cheap option to check.

But if you have eliminated the cap (by ensuring you have the right one), there's really not a lot of options.

How long does it run for before the water starts blowing out? If it is only a couple of minutes and it's not scalding hot, then it won't be because it is overheating.

to find out if you have a blown head gasket you can use a tk tester it will tell you if combustion gasses are entering the cooling system

have you ever thought it might be possible you may have a air lock or blockage in the system? its a big call to say head gasket. i would run a hose the engine and flush it out completely refill it and let the system bleed of air. if the same thing happens. get a TK tester and test it. if all is good and youve changed the cap. more then likely you have a blocked hose or water jacket or the thermostate isnt opening fully.
