Is there an easier way of removing the drivers side engine mount to facilitate clutch replacement?

Which is better unbolting the engine side or the subframe side. Or does somebody have a fantastic method that doesnt involve removing most of the skin on your hands

I have tried both and found it to be a pia or is that correct its a pia and stop moaning and get back to the garage and get the rotten thing fixed
