When you say rebuilt clutch...what clutch did you use? did you check that the flywheel surface was AOK and post straps where flat

need some help i just put a rebuilt engine, gear box in with a new clutch and rebulit diff the clutch is not disenganging properly and am grinding gears at times and it is hard to get it in to gear, does any 1 have any ideas to what it could be, There is plenty of clutch fluid and pressure on the peddal i dont know how old the master cylinder is but it is a after market . |

Almost certainly this will be caused by wear in the clutch actuating mechanism. Will probably need new clutch arm, shaft / bobbin that holds the release brg, clevis pins and possibly slave cylinder pin if this is worn too. All relatively inexpensive and easy to do.... The ball on the arm and socket in the bobbin wear along with slack in the clevis pins, a little wear on each all adds up to a lot less cluch actuation. The old thin clutch plate may have worked, but when you put in a new thicker plate, there is not enough movement to release clutch, it drags and crunches gears. Hope this helps

thanks graham in aus i have pulled out the clutch arm the ball on the arm does look worn i spoke to andrew at mini and moke world who i got the motor from and said it could be the same things as you have i'll try and get a new arm tomrrow and see what happens. |

the mentioned guy is a rip knob I have looked at all driffent place's for mini stuff and i don't belive that Mini and moke world is a rip off i am very happy with the rebuilt engine and all the other parts i have got off them and found nothing wrong with the price's and found them to be very helpful. |

On this forum we are not allowed to say bad things about dodgy businesses due to fear of defamation laws. A lot of experienced people on this forum have seen the work done by all the Mini repairers in Sydney. Some of the posters on this forum have had more than 40 years experience working on Minis (I only have 32 years experience) There is one place in Sydney that is famous (infamous?) for his amazing work on Minis.
