Post subject: | Pedal Strength |
I'm pulling apart and re-assembling a pedal box. Basically, I'm using the frame bit from a late model car with the pedals from an early one. The key difference between pedals is the thickness of the steel they are made from. I can't remember exactly, but the later pedals appear to be 6mm, the early ones are 4mm, with a rib welded down the side. I've had to grind about 3mm or so off the top of the ribs to get the pedals to clear the brake switch. The question now on my mind is, is it safe to use the early pedals in my setup? Clutch is no issue, but the brakes are unboosted single circuit. Anyone ever bend or snap a brake pedal? Thanks. |

Got a pic? I sort of know where it'd fail, but still would like to see. ![]() |

I've never known of a b-r-a-k-e pedal to BREAK, and I've been racing an early setup without a booster for over 20 years. ![]() |
