OK, well I got failed at rego for "steering rack fouling chassis on full lock".
When I had a look I couldn't work out what they meant until I tested it with the wheels off the ground.
The Steering rack Tie rod ends were touching the back of the subframe on full lock (only when the wheels were at their full travel). Had a look at my other mini and found virtually the same thing (only when jacked up).

Anyone else been pinged at rego for this? I can't see it causing a problem seeing at this would only happen if you are literally airborn and you have probably got bigger problems if you need full lock in this situation
Anyway, I have fixed it by lengthening the caster rods which will probably make the steering horrible but that will only be temporary

Maybe he was just objecting to bright pink shockies

My 2 Minis have the tierod ends nowhere near the subby on full lock.
Maybe you have a Mk2 onwards UK rack, they give a lot more lock than the Oz Mk1 racks do.

I'd say count yourself lucky they failed you on that rather than your adjustable tie bars and lower control arms.

Also, is it just the photo, or is your lower control arm pin not quite seated correctly?

I see you don't have any bump stops beneath your top arms, maybe the extra travel is part of the problem

You could be right Doc. I might check the travel against another rack I have here.

Yeh, I know that the lower control arm pin looks funny Anto, but it is OK.

Not a bad point there Norton, but the stop is actually there - just hiding behind the bottom of the shocky. It's great having a camera that turns everything red into pink, especially when you have a red car
