I asked the Bridgestone man in Canberra today and was told that there were none available, they couldn't get any and B don't make them any more.

I shall try a few other dealers tomorrow.

Cheers, Ian

On tyres - I have a friend who imports tyres from Europe. He has found some 165/70/10 Uniroyals(spelling) but uis unsure of the type. He is looking for the rest(found 2 - knows he put 8 in the container... :P ). He will let me know if he finds them

Are they any good?

I had A008's on my first Mini. Bought them new. Mini had a bog stock 1100 - it couldn't spin the wheels with the A008's on. Sold the Mini 10 months later, the front left was pretty well bald! 8) Yes, I loved that car, and those tyres... 8)
If I'd realized things were wearing that quickly, I would've been rotating the tyres each week! And yes, it was worn perfectly evenly across the treads. Can't say how many km I got out of them - the Odometer was broken! Had to get it fixed for RWC to sell it. But my next car - running with basically the same routine - only did 8,000km/year. So that's some indication as to how many km's I got out of my A008's!
The next car (non-Mini) chewed out its front A539's in 25,000km (I didn't corner hard enough - had 1.5º negative camber on it - weird, I cornered much, much harder than I accelerated or braked :? ). Now my next main car's tyres are pretty well gone in 31,000km. My wife's old car did 65,000km on its original tyres. Maybe I'm hard on tyres..?

reading between the lines there.... he just doesn't want to deal with anything other than commonwhores. I bet if you rang Bridgestone head office and told them, he'd get his arse kicked

go somewhere else, everywhere should be able to get SF226's - Tyrepower in Wodonga got them for me overnight when I needed some

they're an OK tyre, but I've got Formula R's on now, and fark - grip!!
