so after exhaustive enquiries and questioning, i think i finally have a plan of attack for my 66 custom.....
1966 (i believe) roundnose shell which has been stripped and painted.
Subframes rebuilt and dry suspension fitted (fronts adj'able)
interior is basic period fit-out
black low back seats
new carpet, doorskins and hood lining
basic three gauge cluster and old bus wheel
exterior is a similar theme
minimal bumpers and badges
single fuel filler with long range tank
drivers side mirror - chrome bullet or motorbike
7.5" rebuilt cooper s discs upfront and spaced drums on rear
(gave up on mini fins - couldn't justify cost - maybe later)
possibly braided lines on front - depends whats left of budget
12x5" minilites (not 100% on alloys yet but size is set)
trying to source 1100s small journal 1275
and am hoping to have the small block machined, cleaned and tested etc,
head ported and polished and possible re-bore.
hope to have the services of graham russell for most of this, including a manifold and 266 cam. and balanced
meanwhile the bottom end and gearbox will be rebuilt
(rod change box i believe)
2-core radiator
spin on oil filter
central pick up
new clutch and lightened (road use) flywheel
roll master duplex
lucas gold coil
thinking about electronic ignition - (ignitor?? fits under dizzy cap??)
LCB extractors + RC40 exhaust
twin SU's
once the motor all comes together, hopefully have everything dialled in and dyno tuned..... and then the fun should begin!?
now just at a point of running the numbers and seeing if the budget will allow for all thats been listed above....
wish me luck, and hopefully i'll see you all on the road in a couple of months
