Post subject:  Federal Tyres

Just a quick question - i am looking for a set of 145/70/R12 tyres for the mini and my local tyre place has either Nankangs, Bridgestones or Federals in stock. I am already steering away from the Nankangs as i hear they have terrible grip in the wet so my question is regarding Federals (which i have never even heard of!)

Has anyone had any experience with them? Would they recommend them over Bridgestones? My mini is a weekend warrior and never used for track or anything.

Any advice would be great!

What wheels are you running? (obviously 12's, but how wide and what type?)

I used Bridgestones in that size. Nothing special. Now have 165's on 12x5 superlites.

I have Federal FD1's on my car. I basically went in and asked for a tyre that would give me good grip and not cost a fortune, and that's what I got :) I can't say I've used Bridgestones, but the Federals are a good tyre in my experience.

12x5 Superlites. I'd be looking at 165/60R12's for them.

If i was running 165/60's on them, would you recomend the Sime Monza HR7s?

(i bought the car in January and 145/70s is what it had on it - i thought that was correct - thanks for the advice guys!)

Do not go the old Falken, it is a absolute nightmare!!!

Did 3500Ks on my Falken and they are nearly good for the bin.

Not worn out but not really good for 3000KM, not miles
