Just wondering has anybody experienced a new set of rubber cones i guess settling in after a small amount of driving after installation. When we did my engine rebuild we replaced the old front cones, they were super hard to get off the hi los and when fitting the new ones they werent nearly as hard to fit. Now after six months and only getting to use the car very occasionally my front end is loads lower than it was,now the smallest bumps cause wheel arch rubbage. Has anybody here experienced this, seems odd,any advice would be verry welcome cheers guys |

Yeah, it happens because they are new - they bed in after a bit of driving. After they have fully bedded in you will find that they won't go down anymore (they still will as they age but that won't happen anywhere near as fast as it is happening now). Adjust your highlow's back up and you should be right ![]() |

Which rubber srings did you fit? new rover ones (moulton) or the replicas? (cheap version). Never had a problem with the Moulton ones, the cheap version on the other hand..........I have seen drop quite alot in a short period of time, wont use them here, not worth the trouble. the high lo's weren't loose are/were they? |

Tom,,, don`t be worried, as said ealier, they nearly all & nearly all the time , "SETTLE IN" i`ve done so many fitments of Hi-Los, springs & knuckle joints (ball & cup kits) over the last 40 plus years & there has only been a very small handfull of minis/mokes that havn`t settled in much,,, maybe 3 or 4 cars all up over all those years So,,, it`s quite obvious that it`s quite normal to have to "Chase" the ride heights for a little while after fitting the new springs, ball & cup kits & Hi-Los don`t be worried, just get under there & adjust them back up nice & square again, yet be prepared to "Maybe" have to do it again soon,,, maybe double check your wheel alignment after a month or so too. if it`s all settled down & you`ve kept chasing the ride heights then all well & good, but , once it`s all stopped settling down then if it`s a little different in height from when the wheel alignment was done, then it may be a tad out & well worth checking before you wear tyres out needlessly easy-peasy |
