i am wondering how much difference there is in ride.
witch brand spax/gaz etc you have and what the difference is when the shocks are set to hard and soft.
are they worth the money or should i just get rebound ajustable shocks.
how about the fast road coil springs.
i have a bad back so i need a smoother ride but i don't want to sacrafice handling.

minis won Bathurst and the Monte Carlo rally on standard hydrolastic suspension, which gives the smoothest ride.... and won't cost you any extra

But some of us want that extra edge Simon, and dont forget that little thing called R&D which allows progress and improvements to take place.

I doubt if coilovers would have been readily accessible back in the mid-60's

Yes, I am running coilovers - GAZ. Have not tested them on the road yet. Stay tuned.

I have coil overs in the Midas and we also use them in the Clubman sportcars, if you want a smooth ride don't even bother thinking of coilovers , they do a great job as a performance combo but for handling they are very hard and stiff and that does not equate to a smooth ride
If its a van I believe the good doc is going to do a hydro van soon and that would be probably the best all rounder
