I wish to reinstate some original style flares I have to my 'S'
The original flares were missing when I purchased my car but had Innocenti style fitted with the extended metal wheel arch extensions partially removed (back to standard type lip).
Can someone tell me where the metal extensions should be fitted, on top or under the existing wheel arch lip and if they should be welded.
Also how should the plastic flares be fixed to the guards and extensions?
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Standard Clubman (I presume factory MK2 S are the same) flair extension strips mount above the standard lip. They are welded from the factory, but people adding them will either weld or rivet them. The flairs themselves are held on with the chrome strip.

Is there no fitting to the guard so there are no gaps between the guard and flare?l

Mine have Sikaflex between the flare and the guard. Also the flares are Riveted to the lip, then the chrome strip was fitted, but it no longer exists, so you can see the rivets.

As said, the extension strip are usu. welded 'over' the lip. But my extension are welded side-to-side to the lip. This isn't what most people do right?

Also is Sikaflex between guard and flares what most people do? I was thinking if there are actually gaskets that go between the guard and the flare?

This is how mine looks like

Thanks Jon I'll come down at look at yours.
I would be wary of using silicone to stick them on, what happens when water gets trapped inside the flare.
From what I hear Mini's don't need encouragement to make them rust!
Thanks everyone for your help.
