Hey all I have a English import 850 it has a generator I was wondering how hard it is to change it over to a alternator???? It is not a negative earth either

Don't, if it is an english import 850, leave it alone. If the generator is stuffed buy a brand new one for less than $100 from mg heritage or karcraft in sydney.
There is nothing wrong with generators, i use them in my countryman and have never had an issue.

Conversion to negative earth is easy, and unless you need a lot of amps a generator is perfectly adequate.

Conversion to neg ground is easy- you would need to do it for a modern radio/stereo, but by all means keep the generator, they work fine unless you have a zillion lights and amps and subs... :wink:
