Been fiddling with the son's 1275 in his new project Moke to see if we could get it started. As the topic says ![]() Oil was a bit over min but I drained it anyway but when I started to pour in the new stuff it poured out from under the rocker cover. Bit of juggeling and I got around that. Radiator was still holding water so just topped it up as I didn't want to flood the shed with horse tack on the floor. New oil filter, - plugs out and connected a fresh charged battery straight across the start (after confirming it was turning by hand). Got oil pressure at the filter so figure it was doing the rounds cleaned out the carby hooked some fuel, filled the bowel - cranked again - no suck ![]() Hooked up the electrics - no starter switch activity- looked behind the steering column - rats nest with broken and cooked wires - damn. Back to the starter solenoid - rigged a wire for the starter and a wire to the coil. Spark at the contact points put some plugs in the leads and give it a spin - spark at the plugs - Yahoo. Screw the plugs in give it a crank - motor won't turn - compression too much for the now dieing battery. Wack it on charge till after tea - fully charge again - bit suss it came up so quick. Back to the car - give it a crank barely turning over - couple of kicks and an almost then the battery had gone again - back on the charger and dead as - obviously my son's brand new battery sitting in the shed for 12 months has not survived the inattention. Oh well back to Brissy 6 am tomorrow - have to leave it till next time ![]() |

Leave the battery on charge for a couple of days. Sometimes they wake up... ![]() |

Next time you go up, take another starter. Sounds to me that the starter is crook, not the battery. Could be wrong, but I have seen this happen a number of times. Cheers Aaron |
