Well today I received the valve cap that I was asking for in the 'Wanted' section. Steve (JustMinis) sent it to me for free, It took 51 views though. Some time ago I sent Steve a metal dipstick tube for the same price. This is what being an Mini nut is about. All I can say if you have a part that you don't need please pass it on. One day you made need something. I've given heaps of parts away or near to, like lowering steering colum bracket, moke heater, alternator, etc etc. I've even paid for the postage to send them. This Saturday I'm dropping off the 1100 disc brake front end to someone who needs it (free of course). Now I not asking for you guys to be out of pocket but let's help each other out and not look for profit. Thanks to the sincere friends that I have on this site. Ty |

I know what you mean. About a week ago Matt68 was looking for a bumper for his racecar. I GAVE him my best 'backup' bumper (the best one I had that wasn't on my car). I didn't really need it and Matt's a nice fella. He has done me a REALLY good deal on something else I wanted in the past - so I thought this was only fair ![]() Makes you feel good inside when you have helped someone else out ![]() |

I've been on the receiving end of Ty's generosity and it's much appreciated. I've also passed on stuff as well. -Probably not as much as I've received but as the car gets closer to finish then more will be 'moved on' |

I have given away parts and I have been given parts. It gives you a nice feeling to do good things. ![]() I have also sold rare parts cheaply to help people out and then seen those parts on Ebay a month later. ![]() That does not give you a warm feeling. ![]() |

I dunno, I never saw it but the one I gave him was straight as except for one sizable dent on the end. the chrome on it was pretty good too. It resided on my car for 6 months or so, so was in quite reasonable condition. Anyways....I don't know if it was for the back one, he just asked me if I had spare bumpers and I said yes ![]() |

I'll also put my hand up as being on the receiving end of Ty's generosity (which has been greatly appreciated) along with that from others on here . It's one of the great things about ausmini , a lot of people here try to help out other mini nuts , especially the younger members or the new ones starting out when they can , it's the ones that abuse it (selling stuff on ebay after being given it) that hurt it for the rest so please remember that when someone helps you out . |

A few years back I was at a Brisbane mini shop and the person behind the counter stated that a customer was looking for some rear bumperettes for his mini van. He then said that the car was a show car, and he had been looking for a pair for months and months. Funny enough, I had two exellent pairs in the shed which I had re-cromed as well. I used two on my mini van and the other two were spares. I mentioned to him that I'm more than happy to donate them for his cause. This mini shop person then said, bring them around and I can hand them to him on the Saturday (it was Wednesday). I drove home, grabbed them and dropped them of the following morning. Anyway a week went buy and this awesome mini van was seen driving the streets of Brisbane. I managed to catch up with the driver and have a look. At it turned out, it was the the van that I was told about on the Wednesday. The owner said, he had spent nearly 5 years restoring it. I saw the new rear bumperettes on the back and mentioned to him I donated them for the cause. He looked at me with a weird look......Then said, "I paid $380 for those"................. I NEARLY FELL OVER!!!!!! I then kindly explained to him that I gave them to the mini shop person to give to you on my behalf to help you finish the project. I tell you what, it made my blood boil! I approched this mini shop person and told him what I thought but he didn't care.... Never went back to him again and what comes around goes around....Business aint there anymore, he had a bad name for himself, but he does trade in other "Mini services" |

Some years ago I went to my GP suffering depression and sought treatment, during the discussion he asked me why I was depressed so I told him that I had gotten myself in trouble to the tune of nearly $1000 and couldn't pay my utility bills and rent and that I was about to get evicted. He told me to come back the next day which I duly did. When I arrived for my apointment the next day he gave me an envelope stuffed with $50 bills and said that when He had been my age the same thing had happened and someone helped him out, I was told not to repay him, but later in life I was to do the same for someone else. Even as I type this years after I have tears of gratitude in my eyes. I am still waiting for my chance to pay him back by helping someone else out the same way |

Yep, a lot of people have helped me out over the years and I am happy to help out in return. Geez, I even sold a sump plug to Brad (Hanra) for $5.00 recently then discover should've charged him $30.00. Hell, it could have been a genuine Cooper S one and been eligible for the Cooper S tax and been worth $50.00. Wait till I see him next ![]() ![]() |

I am still waiting for my chance to pay him back by helping someone else out the same way Shite I am going through that at the moment. I was not paid by the ADF for around 4 weeks and have sucked up all the saving myself and my partner had. Finally got paid today but had to ask mum for a hand up to cover the rent owed for 4 weeks. Very hard to do but combined with another government contractor looking after the housing aspects of defence in Australia(you can read between the lines... ![]() All said and done I paid Mum back immediately this morning via a bank transfer and then got blasted for giving her back the money. We still owe a fair bit for the utilities and the likes but the hand up certainly helped. Was a dark time over the last few weeks and not a lot of productive work getting done but there is now light at the end of the tunnel. Treat people with respect and in a way you would like to be treated. I smile every day and I am thankful I have my family and friends. I consider the great majority of you guys and girls on here as friends and I dont think I have ever had a raised discussion with anyone here. Just smile and it makes other wonder what you are smiling about. ![]() Onward band of brothers(and sisters of course!)! Hooroo |

Ive been helped out on here, with things for free and others where they even paid postage. Its an AWESOME!! Feeling when you have been looking for something with no luck and then somebody pipes up with some - it makes you excited (it does me). And often people that that are restoring mini's DONT have a lot cash so often neglect the more important bits like new pistons and a rebore rather than just new rings etc. So every little bit they can save on other parts helps. thnaks everyone who has helped me out - Hopefully oneday i will be able to repay the favour to somebody else who needs help Brenton |

When I read the title of this post I thought it was about the clap Whilst rebuilding the Moke I had lots of people offer help and materials without being asked - parts arrived in the mail without being requested. It was a nice feeling to think that people could be so unselfish. So I am trying my hardest to return in kind - its a nice way to make the world go round. |
