I am about a week away from building my motor for project deluxe and have changed my mind what cam to use. The car will be used for club days and maybe the odd hill climb its no a daily driver. The cam i was going to use was a 649 thats what was in when i first built it, Now every one is talking about RE13 cam shaft. I would like to here from any one running one and how well they work. Cheers Tony |

I know of a Cooper S fitted with an RE13. It has the original twin SUs, maniflow CB and RC40 muffler. It's a 1330, and it has smelly number plates ![]() ![]() |

Well I had to have the Mk2 S camshaft ground, and I figured I could have it ground standard or try something a little more exotic. I've got the Mk2 shaft still here if you would like it... You could swap out the re13 to the deluxe that way I guess.. I'll have an RE13 in the resto as well (once GR has finished with it, it's in his hands now..) |

I would go a step up from the RE13 such as the Doc runs. I recall it as a RE286. As a passenger in Barney and according to the bum dyno results, it was still tractable at lower revs but had more stronger midrange and top end delivery than the RE13. Not sure if GR still grinds this cam but I would make it my choice instead of my current RE13, even for a streeter. ![]() |

Unfortunately this cam grind is NLA, the cam master got lost somehow in Melbourne so GR can't make any more... ![]() And nobody has an unused RE282 cam for him to take a decent copy from, only about 3 or 4 were made. He does have another RE13 flavour now though, with more top end, I have one in the 1412 stroker, with 1.46:1 Corolla rockers... ![]() |
