For a 73 clubby, can someone please let me know which way the engine stabiliser bar should be fitted, with the kink in the bar facing up or down?
This is the bar mounted to the thermostat housing bracket.
Also I assume the correct order for thermostat assembly is,
thermostat first, gasket, stabiliser bracket, gasket, thermostat housing and then radiator support bracket.
For some reason I was sold three gaskets, but I can only see use for two!
Thanks

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

A 73 Clubby should have no need for a top steady, unless it's had a rodchange box fitted.
The rear mount in the tunnel, on the remote housing is all the steady you need.

If you fit a top steady to any car make sure you have the reinforcing plate inside the bulkhead, otherwise the bolts can tear out.... :!:

The bend in the bar is actually meant to fit side ways,,, with the bend towards the radiator & it was originally meant to clear the side plate breather pipe,,, so yeah, fit it with the bend towards the radiator end

Yep, Matt's spot on -- that's how mine is mounted.. if it didn't bend that way I'm not sure it'd clear the breather canister at all.
