| Post subject: | Clutch master cylinder / clutch pedal |
The clutch master cylinder is attached to the clutch pedal via a rod and pin. The pin passes through the rod and clutch pedal, and secures with a clip........everyone know this right....... Well my pin that holds the pushrod onto the clutch pedal is seized!  I can't get the bastard out!!!
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how the hell did you get the pin out? This is all that is stopping me from driving pops!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Well the pin that holds the pushrod onto the clutch pedat is seized! I can't get the bastard out!!!Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how the hell did you get the pin out? This is all that is stopping me from driving pops!!!!!!!!!!!! Patience and persuasion are needed! Can you remove the R clip? Can you see why its siezed? Big blob of rust? Can that be picked at to loosen it? Can you spray some WD-40 up there and try to turn the clevis pin to loosen it? Next....... BFH! |

Is the R clip the thinggy that holds the pin there? If so, it didn't even have one. I think it is rusted in, and I have been BFH'ing all morning! I can't get up in there to use pliers on the pin.....typical Mini....no room! |

Had the identical problem with the brake pedal - absolutely nothing would shift it. - even after all the above suggestions. In the end we dissassembled everything around the pedal including the pedal box inside the car till all we had left was the offending pedal hanging from the push rod. Pull the master cylinder up from the engine bay side until you can see the base of the cylinder and removed the circlip that holds in the pushrod into the cylinder. The push rod then is free to be extracted back through the firewall and removed still attached to the pedal from inside the car. Take the pedal and pushrod assembly to the bench and then give the clevis pin a decent blow with a FBH Warning - This is only a last resort method, hydrolic fluid will go everywhere when you separate the master cylinder from the pushrod, and the cylinder will also require a new rubber kit put through it afterwards before it can be refitted. But at least it beats my other option which was to get out the hacksaw! LOL |

I knew someone else would have had this problem! I was thinking about doing exaclty what you said.....but I don't think I have the time or patience! If I have no choice, at least I know you had success with that method. Cheers! |

After 3 days of trying - believe me, undoing a couple more bolts under the dash seamed a piece of cake. A couple of rags strategically placed beforehand caught most of the fluid and I was resigned to the re-kitting expence before the attempt. There are some positives - this method gave me the opportunity to clean up and give the pedals and pedal box a quick re-spray while they were out. nice and pretty now. |

OMG!!!!! What a f***ing biach of a job!!!!!!!
Took me am eternity to get my fat knuckles up in there!!!!! People take notice......if you have to do this job, take a few deep breaths first and don't expect to knock it off in a flash! **grumble grumble**

Your's won't come out, well mine didn't want to stay in! The split pin had worked it's way out and the pin followed after that! joy! Was on the way to the NRMA Aus day display when this happened. No pointy nose pliers! Agh! Anyway, a screwdriver and a bit of Gaffa tape saved the day, got me there and back, just have to put a new split pin in so it wont fall out again! Cheers Aaron |

Anton I had this exact same problem...I sparyed it with wd40 and wrestled it with some pliers till id broken either end of the pin off. Then I proceeded to punch the remaining part of the pin out with a punch.... and i had to do it for both sides
