Post subject: | Electrical problems |
Hi im having electrical problems with my clubman. I put a new battery on to see if the electrics were working and most things were. The only thing that wasn't working was the wiper motor and the passenger side front lights. With the front lights the drivers side indicator and headlight is working, however the passenger side isn't, its blinking from the inside but not the outside and all the back lights are working as well. I replaced the indicator bulb and it still doesn't work. As for the wiper motor it isn't working at all. It was working before i restored the car so the motor isn't faulty. Does this wire have anything to do with it? ![]() Because i don't know where it goes, one wire is earthed near the charcoal canister. Cheers |

The wires shown in the pic are for the dual braking master cylinder brake fail light. As to your other problems, most likely to be an earthing problem. |

Ahh k, were abouts does it connect to? also is it really necessary considering that my dash will not have these holes to view such things. No blinkers no nothing |

I had the same trouble with my wiper motor not long ago. It took me many hours and fuses but I finally figered it out. The Gregory's manual I was using has a typo ![]() The way your wiper switch should be plugged in is as follows 5. Blue with light green stripe 4. Black (2 wires) 3. nothing 2. Red with light green 1. Black with dark green |

Ok i got the indicator working, one of the green wires was disconnected ![]() ![]() ![]() The wipers are still not working, does the car need to be on for them to work? Does a weak battery not make it work, because when i switch it on the red light on the fuel gauge dims? Does anyone have a spare clubby front light? Cheers |

If fitting Halogens make sure you wire up some headlight relays or you will eventually distroy your switches... |

Cheers I bought a `New Era' (made in Japan) headlamp relay from Supercrap, it comes with instructions and has 2x 30A blade fuses built in too. I mount them on the firewall where the headlamp wiring comes down, basically you just cut the blue/white (high beam) wire, the blue/red (low beam) one, screw them on, and then run an earth wire and power from the battery cable stud on the starter solenoid. ![]() Supercrap also carry an el cheapo Chinese one, no idea what they are like. Or, you could get a couple of Hella or Bosch relays- they are easy to wire up once you get the idea. |

Getting back to the wipers. Is it a 2 speed wiper motor? and where does that green wire go? When I saw the brake fail wires and the dual circuit brakes I presumed it was a 78 mini S like mine but it sounds like you've got something else going on. |
