OK....after 3000 posts on ausmini (+ 1500 odd on mCm) I have finally done it.....

I HAVE PROGRESSED FROM A MINI OWNER TO MINI DRIVER

I got pops running today :D . Had to replace the clutch master and slave cylinders, plus water pump. Changed the 30 year old plugs and filters and hey presto!!

He runs really well. Starts first go every time, and feels really good on the road, but the poor old man needs a shot of Viagra, because he has a little bit of trouble getting it up (to a good speed).

I am very happy!! Looks like I will finally have a Mini to take to MCC meetings!

What a great feeling cruising in a Mini.....

I need to get this thing on club plates now. I might even contemplate full rego for a year, just to get some enjoyment. Have to check the ever decreasing bank balance...... :cry:

Makka, I will visit the old timer and show him. I am sure he will be very pleased!

Put it on full rego until ya get JAM on the road. Can't have you driving some kind of modern boring type car for much longer!

I reckon having now driven a mini you will only resort to a normal car when either:

A) Theres not enough room
B) The mini is off the road being repaired / modified

go the 12 month rego you know you want to :wink:

Congrats Anton,

I'd just go straight onto club plates - you'd still get an opportunity to drive it at least twice per month, and more than likely several more times than that (assuming you went to all meetings and events). If JAM will be finished and on full rego in a matter of months, the cost of full rego (+CTP + Insurance) for pops isn't worth it.

Also if you pressed it into daily service and full rego and it hasn't been driven for a while, what else may need refurbishing? - I suppose you'll find out in a hurry at least.

I think pops should enjoy his golden years in semi-retirement. Have you thought about taking up Lawn Bowls by the way? cool car to turn up in :D

the road!!!! put in on full rego! (you know where
you can get cheaply insurance :wink: -till 18/2 :lol: )
