I am trying to find the name of a Mini colour that was metallic silver. Probably later (maybe 1978). Seem to remember that the GT's came out in a silver?

I have the body colour chosen for my 65 Deluxe rebuild (which is going to be a mini colour from the sixties) but I am trying to find a metallic silver for the roof.

The 1275LS of 1978 came in a metallic silver called HiHo Silver

If your not painting it the original colour, why not just choose the best looking silver to match the body, does it need to be an original mini colour. I went to the paint shop with the body colour chosen, then looked through all their silvers (about 100 or more) and chose the best match.

Be aware that Hi-Ho Silver is a crap colour! :lol:
It does not last very well. :cry:

Anyone remember the Toyota metallic silver from the mid 70s that used to fade badly (as used on Coronas) it is the same paint colour with a different name.

I would look for a different silver. (and I usually recommend the factory colours!)

hi guys,
same paint colour but not product remember that paint technology has come along way but if you want something to last 2pk it! especially metalic,which requires a clear.
Acrylic is fine in basic flat paints,but acrylic clears breakdown very quickly under uv,.
Silver fox a gt ford colour look's pretty smart :wink:

Thanks - good point. I was thinking it would be easier if it has to be matched to be a 'name' and not a 'number' from the book.

A number is always easier because that is what the painter will use to mix the paint.

I agree a number is better,
eg my mini was painted executive grey,they can't find any information on it ,as soon as i rang them with the number BINGO
