yeah we bought an 1100 for 200 aswell!,

good 1100, plus they have a better diff ratio for better cruizing!,

at the moment we are tranfering that same 1100 into the 850 pano, plus fitting a hot cam and a few other little things,

we bought it off a guy in wollongong who was originally going to use the motor out of it to fit to his ORIGINAL AUSTIN 850 mini, but then sold it before fitting!,

(he was a mad vauxhall enthusiast, and also ahad an austin A30) all immaculate!

weve salvaged a few good parts but shipped the body of to the salvage yard!

Mick, you are right about the diff ratio, but the 1100 box and remote can be used. You need 2 holes tapped in the remote for the mount, and a Mini engine mount bracket under the rad.
The sandwich mount between the remote and box can be made solid by replacing with an adaptor, available on the www.minimania.com site, or make yer own from some steel plate. :wink:

Hardly worth the trouble really- the gear ratios were wide and it's only 3 synchro.

Hey all, Out n about today I came across an old Morris 1100 I could have for $250. It's a complete car, less the carby, but still has the discs and even the chrome hubcaps! The body has the usual small amount of rust, and the car has frontal damage, though the engine is untouched. Now, I was particularly interested in the engine for reasons of fitting to a mini if I ever get one that has a smaller engine. Would it be worth my trouble if I got the car, and sold it for parts once I get the engine, or is the engine likely to be stuffed since the car has been out in the whether for at least 10 years. (By trouble, I mean I don't have anywhere to put it or a way to get it home)

dont think you can sell 1100 parts, only true interest i have had is for the discs, and the cost of sending them south< and the fact im then stuck with an imovable object makes that totaly not worth the effort plus the time for me to remove the parts and package etc.. otherwise having advertised the whole thing less motor with heaps of spares i cant even get $50 on ebay.. $250 sounds too much by the way the market is the motor would be worth more without the rest of the car (serious) the 1100 is a good motor , but the 1100 car is (at risk of offending a rare few) in a lot of peoples eyes, an abomination that most would be ashamed to be seen dead in.. (note i did not say my opinion). i payed $200 for mine but it had 2 x 1100 motors in it. I bought Danielle some mags recently and the guy who was selling them also had an 1100.. said he couldnt sell 1100 parts on ebay either.. PS some brake and small parts are the same as mini.. oh and mine even has the groover trims under the hubcaps LOL

The 1100S is obviously desirable for the 1275 engine....however....(choosing words carefully so I don't offend Morris 1100 in Goulburn)....the 1100s don't seem to have sustained the following they had when they were new. There were a lot on the roads in their time!! Before anyone ditches any 1100 stuff they should at least try the for sales and wanteds on http://www.elevenhundred.com/

Thanks guys, that throws that idea out the window. The car was in a self-serve wrecking yard, so I could get the brakes off if it was worth it.

Almost certain the morris 1100 and 1100S discs dont fit a mini. I bought 2 whole morris 1100's for 60 bucks each. The only things i kept were the 2x 1100 motors. The rest was pretty useless.

Hi, I am a crazy bugger that has just started a Morris 1100 Project. To prove the lack of real class the one I have got is an auto!!!!. I need a few bits and pieces such as a complete front floor, a steering rack, and some time with my head shrink. I am in Sydney, so if anyone has bits they do not want send me a private messsage.

I'll go for the rear tail light assembles, chrome surround and lenses as they are the same as my riley elf always good to have spares, I also have a morris 1100S its a 4 door cooper S, daggy but fantastic car. A group of blokes pulled up next to me at a set of lights and laughed at the 1100, they were in a toyota carolla. When they eventually caught up at the next set of lights I laughed at them, then left them for dead again when the lights went green. Steve

Hardly worth the trouble really- the gear ratios were wide and it's only 3 synchro. MG1100 had a close ratio box...and a slightly higher diff (I think)...over the 4.3 fitted as normal. I really didn't think it was that simple....if you look at the rear of the casing it is a lot differnt to a Mini and I would have thought there could be firewall related problems....oh well..
