over the weekend i drove from melbourne to sydney and back to pick up mini number three for the grandad which makes seven between the two of us. this car also happens to be sunshine number two for the grandad but in both sunshines we have all of the rails and slides and accesories for the sunroof's but no glass and we cant find anyone who will want to touch them as its to much work to shape the glass i reckon this is a great big load of s#@t i think that the glass people dont think its worth their time as the sunroofs are not all that common. but now that i have finished ranting does anyone know anything about these sunroofs or ideally where to get parts from. grandad and i saw a very nice clubby parked in the carpark with the sunroof that is in the sunshines that had a sticker but neither of us had a pen to write down the phone number we are kicking ourselves big time.
but anyway any help at all would be geatly appreciated

regards chris

Hi mate,

The company that once made the sunroofs (auto sun and air) are no longer around, so i think you weill have to try and get the glass remade. I have my sunshine (you may have seen it in Mini World or the Mini Experience). all of the parts are NLA so i am going to try and get the seals re made when i get back from overseas. the plastic slides are also very important as you would know, and i am going to try and get them remade, but i am not sure how well this is going to go!

pm me if you have anymore questions.

Chris how goes it in the UK!
I may be pants at getting info on seals but I have a close mate who is a genius with plastics. If he can't make the slides I bet he knows who can (This is a guy who considered going to work for F1 in carbon fibre...)

I'd be happy to try and sort out some slides if I could get my hands on a seal!

If you can't find anyone to make a glass one it would be very easy to make an acylic or polycarbonate one. All you would need to do is cut a piece of plastic to shape and use a glass sunroof as a mould. If Chris can't send you one I can. My price would be for you to pay all costs and send me a reproduction seal.

I can't finish the project without it Chris and I am starting to get close now...

I might fly over to your side of the country and annoy you in person sometime next year, never been East 8)
