Post subject: | 1977 Leyland mini dash wiring diagram please. |
I need a 1977 Leyland mini wiring diagram, mainly the dash section as I'm having some troubles getting the park lights to work. What happens is the dash lights up but the outside lights don't both on park and headlights. The indicators still work fine on the outside so the bulbs are still good and the only fuses I can find (2 in the engine bay) are both good ![]() The biggest problem is the dash has been modified to take a single speedo binnacle and toggle switches ie cooperized. ![]() I don't know if the switch is wired incorrectly or what (it was all done by the PO). Also I need to find the wires in the dash that will work the indicator signals on the dash. I have more questions here http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... 3&start=15 for those of you that can help (go to the post dated Sun Jul 13 ![]() |

Unfortunately I'm haveing the opposite problem with Ash's car. I have looked through her Clubby / Leyland Mini workshop manual (71-78) and there is unfortunately no details (that I can find) on that kind of thing, it just gives the normal wiring diagram where it mentions, switches and earths etc. So not really any help but it does give you a free bump back to the top ![]() |

Yes I'm pretty sure they have twin element bulbs (haven't actually looked that close yet) but it seems a bit weird to me that the park element in all 4 bulbs would blow ![]() ![]() |

Alright, I checked the bulbs and their all good. The wires don't match what the wiring diagram says they should be but I'm working around that (I have a 71 diagram and I NEED a 77). What happens so far is, all indicators work fine, no external parkers work, dash lights work fine, head lights work fine. Can anyone help me with the switch? The left one is what I have and the right one is what the wiring diagram says. ![]() This is what the wiring diagram says: #1 goes to the front parkers. #4 goes to the ignition switch. #7 goes to the dash lights and rear parkers+number plate lights. #8 goes to the dipper switch (colour not specified). The switch I have is: Brown=ignition switch. Blue=dipper switch. Big red=I don't know. Connecting red=resistor (with out this no lights work). So who can figure out what's wrong with my wiring ![]() |

you have the wrong light switch for the car, a 77 car has the same switches as all mini square nose cars unless yours is a rover car, the light switch should work as of at top and first click is parkers and panels and 2 click headlights as well, parkers should be powered on first click and reamin powered when headlights are also on. bush way would be to find the constant power into the switch and get a wire and run it to the other wires and have a loook at what works when you conetc the power to them, then get the correct light switch and check its operation with a multi metre and connect the wires accordingly. Your light switch is the problem not the wiring |

Yeah I though it might be that, but from what I can tell I'm missing a red wire ![]() |

![]() Parking lights on Clubman cars are fused. Not sure exactly where its located but its behind the dash/switch panel somewhere and is additional to the 2 fuses under the bonnet, As for the resistor, no idea what thats for but it sounds as though its an "improvement" by the PO. Good luck RonR |
